$899.00 $629.00
With thoughtful upgrades and a reintroduction of color to this model, we can confidently say that the new PUBLIC D8i is one of the best commuter bikes available.

All new reflective decals and lightweight 100% chromoly tube set, ensure a strong and lightweight bike with a smooth ride. The durable drivetrain features Shimano's Nexus 8 internally geared hub, that pairs with Shimano's 8-speed twist shifter for easy, seamless shifting. The high-polish silver alloy fenders complement durable puncture-resistant commuter tires with reflective sidewall details. Additional upgrades include the new custom lugged crown fork, elegant one-piece forged seat post and new streamlined commuter saddle. Finally, the cockpit sports our alloy PUBLIC Brunch handlebars and a negative rise road bike stem for sportier city riding.

Built to endure tough city commuter bike conditions, the PUBLIC D8i comes equipped with durable double-wall wheelset with matching rims. Strong alloy dual pivot brakes ensure fast and safe stopping rain or shine. High quality polished and anodized fenders protect you from road grit and make sure you arrive looking sharp, and the integrated alloy chainguard keeps your clothes clean and dry. You won't have to roll up your pants leg to ride in style for the office or the evening.

The new green and chrome PUBLIC D8i is every bit PUBLIC, and quite possibly our best commuter bike ever.

Public Bike Size Recommendations

A bike that fits properly is more fun to ride. The guides below offer size suggestion based on height in inches. If you have measuring tape, you may also determine your size by measuring your leg length plus one inch, which is your stand over measurement. For all bikes, we recommend at least 1 inch of space between you and the top tube of the bike.

When in doubt, contact our customer service team via email at or phone at 1-888-450-0123. For children’s bikes, smaller bikes are always easier for beginners.

*Please note some riders may be a little outside of these height range recommendations but prefer the feel of a larger or smaller bike. Stand over height measurement is not as important as how the bike geometry feels while it is being ridden.
